- We don't sell your personal information, use it for advertising, or run ads.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information by emailing privacy@campgenie.ai.
1. About this policy
1a This policy explains how Camp Genie Pty Ltd ACN 700 124 321 ("CampGenie", "we", "us") handles personal information when you use CampGenie. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1b This policy forms part of our Terms of Service. "Service", "Account" and "Trip" have the same meaning as in the Terms.
2. What we collect
2a Account details. Your name, email address and profile picture link, provided by the sign-in service you choose, such as Google or Apple. We don't see or store your password.
2b Your travel profile. The town or suburb you travel from, who is travelling (including the number and ages of any children, and any pets), your setup (such as the type and length of your caravan or camper, and the roads you're comfortable driving), and the kinds of places and facilities you prefer. We don't collect children's names.
2c Trips and messages. What you type into CampGenie, and the Trips we create for you.
2d Feedback and optional email. Ratings and comments you give us, and your email address if you choose to give it to us, for example to hear about a new feature.
2e Usage information. Your device and browser type, the pages and features you use, error reports, and the campsite and booking links you click through to. Our analytics and error monitoring providers also receive your IP address.
2f If you email a Trip to someone, we use their address only to send that email and don't keep it.
2g We don't collect payment information.
3. How we use it
3a We use personal information to:
- (i) provide the Service, including creating, saving and sharing your Trips;
- (ii) remember your preferences so you don't have to repeat yourself;
- (iii) respond to your feedback and requests, and send you emails about the Service;
- (iv) keep the Service secure, apply fair use limits and fix problems;
- (v) understand how the Service is used and improve it, including reporting referral activity to partners in aggregate; and
- (vi) meet our legal obligations.
3b We may create de-identified and aggregated information from use of the Service, and use it to improve our suggestions and understand how the Service is used. It doesn't identify you and isn't personal information.
3c We don't sell your personal information or use it for advertising.
4. How AI is used
4a To create and change your Trips, we send your messages and travel profile to our AI model providers.
4b Our AI providers don't use this information to train their models, and don't keep it after responding.
4c We keep our own record of these requests and responses for 90 days to fix problems and improve suggestions, then delete it. Only our administrators can access it.
5. Using CampGenie without signing in
5a You can plan without an Account. We give your browser an anonymous identifier, stored in a cookie, and your travel profile stays in your browser rather than in our database.
5b Trips you create are stored with that anonymous identifier rather than your name or email address.
5c Because we can't tell who you are, we can't act on a request to access or delete information from a session you haven't signed in to. If you sign in on the same browser, your Trips from that session are linked to your Account, and you can then ask us to delete them.
5d Clearing your browser's data for CampGenie removes your travel profile. It also removes the anonymous identifier, so we can no longer link that session's Trips to you.
6. Who we share it with
6a We share personal information with service providers who help us run CampGenie, such as providers of hosting, AI models, sign-in, maps and location search, analytics, error monitoring and email. They may only use it to provide services to us.
6b Our database is hosted in Sydney. Some of our providers are located in, or process information in, the United States and the European Union. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
6c Anyone with the link to a Trip you share can view it. Our Terms explain how share links work.
6d We may also disclose personal information where required by law, to protect a person's safety, or as part of a sale or restructure of our business.
7. Analytics and cookies
7a Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use them to keep you signed in, to remember your session if you haven't signed in, and to see how CampGenie is used. We don't use cookies for advertising.
7b We use Google Analytics to see which features are used and where people run into problems. We don't send it what you type, your Trips, your home location, or your name or email address.
7c You can opt out with Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser, though parts of the Service may not work if you do.
8. Security
8a We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including encryption in transit and access controls. If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
9. Access, correction and deletion
9a You can update much of your travel profile in the Service. To ask for a copy of your information, correct it, or delete your Account, email privacy@campgenie.ai.
9b Because your information includes where and when you travel, we will confirm your identity before acting on a request.
9c Deleting your Account removes your account details, travel profile, all your Trips (including any linked from before you signed in), share links, feedback and our records of what you typed to the AI. We keep some records with nothing linking them to you, such as usage, cost and referral click records.
10. Complaints
10a If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email privacy@campgenie.ai. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to respond within 30 days.
10b If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
11. Changes and contact
11a We will update this policy as CampGenie develops. The current version is always at campgenie.ai/privacy, and we will tell you by email or within the Service before a significant change takes effect.
11b For anything about your privacy, contact privacy@campgenie.ai.
