CampGenie is a free AI trip planner for camping and caravanning in Australia. Tell it where you’re heading, who’s coming and what you’re camping in, and it builds a mapped itinerary with campsites, drive times and nights at each stop.

A weekend away, a school holiday road trip, a few weeks up the coast or a lap of Australia. You don’t need a specific destination in mind. Just share roughly what you’re after, like “somewhere warm in July within a day’s drive of Brisbane”, and CampGenie will suggest a trip. It’s especially handy if you don’t know an area, or you’re travelling with kids or pets.

AI chatbots like ChatGPT are handy for ideas but unreliable with distances, so you end up checking everything in Google Maps. CampGenie works out drive times for towing and shows unsealed kilometres for every leg. And unlike ChatGPT, your trip comes back as an itinerary on a map, not a wall of text. Sign in and it’s saved, so you can come back and keep refining it any time.

CampGenie uses AI to suggest stops, then checks each one against live Google Maps listings so you only see real places, with current ratings and reviews. AI can still get things wrong, so always check details like amenities, road conditions, closures and site suitability with the campsite before you go.

Each stop links straight to whoever takes the booking, such as the national park or caravan park, so you can check availability and book with them. Making this even easier is on our wishlist.

It’s free to use. CampGenie is still in its early days, so things may change as it grows, but we’ll always let you know first. When you’re ready to book, you pay the campsite or booking site directly.
